Christmas Activities
~*Monday, December 28, 2009*~

Of all times, blogger likes to lag now... Hopefully i can still publish this without errors.

After the rather plain and boring Christmas Day with my family doing some furnishings, the boxing day and the day after had been really fulfiling.

After lots of blood-vomitting efforts to find a suitable date, and endless postponement of plans due to last minute problems that threaten the attendance, the hcico shengists finally met on boxing day in 2009. (Almost) Full attendance somemore, though victor couldnt make it last minute. We even had yuting here omg.

I finally bowled again after at least 4 years of hiatus. Ever since bowling alleys pulled out from places accessible and convenient like cineleisure, it hasn't been part of the plans for outings. It's amazing how prices have inflated over the years. I remember vividly that it used to be $2 - $3 per game. Prices can even go as low as $1.50 at off peak period with our student card. And it is a whopping $4.50 per game! A standard 2-game would have burnt a hole in the pocket. And beginner's luck seem to play a big part in most games. Had a not bad 108 for my first game and an embarrassing 39 for 2nd game. Or rather, for the 2nd game after guttering the first 2 sets, i decided to give up playing properly and start experimenting with spins and whatsnot. Ended up with a score dedicated to my unit. xD

Had Pastamania and Subway for meals, I have no idea why our sheng meals tend to gravitate towards these two in the end.

LAN and Arcade are just the other pasttimes to spend the day. Nothing out of the ordinary but it's the company that matters. As always, i'm already looking forward to the next meetup. And no, i'm not going to arrange for the day again this time. Shall pester others to do it liaoz.

And today (or was it yesterday since it's past midnight) was the meet up with my bmt sectionmates. It was a simple eat and talk cock with a bit of arcade since zenn pangsehed us on the movie for the second time. But it was good meeting up again, esp yuheng whom i havent talked to since bmt. Met him while he was marching with his wing/plt in ocs during AOH though. (That was the time when i can still buah long long walk around and "laugh" at them. Now i have to salute to them and call them sir le. Haix.) Brian has his endless funny stories from tekong; yuheng with his ocs experience and zenn with his interesting character. I'm actually looking forward to some more official sectional outing where we can have more people. It's really been ages since i last saw the rest.

After the event-packed days, it's time for a day at home tomorrow. Probably to read some books amidst completing my personal statement, have a haircut, get my books to prepare for my btt, consolidate my thoughts, and really enjoy my leave relaxing. And that includes having a long uninterrupted sleep. Yawns, good night!

P.S. Please leave a tag ;)!

Merry Christmas
~*Friday, December 25, 2009*~

It came a little too late, but Merry Christmas! Though my christmas was spent at home helping out with household chores which includes repaint the master bedroom, which has changed from white to a pale lavender. My sis' room too.

The week hasn't been that bad. IPPT on tues almost took my life. No, it's not my sbj this time round. I've managed a 225 after 2 jumps, managed 9 pullups (broke my personal record), shuttle run went quite smoothly with no dropping of the wooden blocks (which happens quite often for me). In the end it was 2.4 that killed me. Ok i admit it has been a long time i've run seriously. And the weather hasn't been very kind. I literally lost steam after 1.6 mark and slowed my pace almost to a walk (with OC yelling behind). In the end i think i lost my silver by a few seconds. Or if i'm lucky i'd be on the dot. But it sure gave me loads of headache, breathing difficulty and nausea after that.

The major standby area was quite a put off. We were never told that they are checking the office areas and 4th floor which is empty. In the end it became like our fault like that even though no one explicitly said it. But then i won't let it spoil my christmas eve.

Went home, washed up, wrapped my present and set off to QQ's grandma's house for hcco (alumni) bbq. And i'm really shocked that there's such irresponsibility from a certain person. Well, taking away the unpleasance cause by that person, it has been a good time catching up with the people i havent seen for a long time. And i learn something, i'm hopeless at guitar hero. lol.

Ok, it's time to sleep. Gonna catch up with another group of people i havent seen for a long long time.

P.S. Please leave a tag ;)!

1010
~*Monday, December 21, 2009*~

It was quite an eventful weekend i would say. Attended my cousin's wedding ceremony cum lunch at Raffles Hotel on Saturday. It was quite a refreshing change as it was christian-style ceremony where we sat amongst the greens with live band of strings. 6-course lunch was rather unique, but unfortunately not quite filling. And it lacked the usual video presentation, popping of champagne and yum sengs.

In the evening had our condo's 10th anniversary event. To me it was some fail organising. lol. CMI food with long queues, performances that no one bother to watch, and lucky draw. I didn;t bother to stay around much after eating and went back home while my mother continued to socialise with the neighbours while waiting for the lucky draw. Haha i find it weird how my mother seemed so surprised when higher ups mingle with the residents. I mean, isn't this like part of their job scope as well? What's more elections seem to be around the corner so they will buck up in a sense.

Last night went for guanyue dinner. As usual, spent ages to decide on a place to eat. Went from cityhall to chijmes and back to citylink for xin wang taiwan. After which went to starbucks to stone for while and talk cock before going to marina square for window shopping / shopping for x'mas gifts.

And i took leave today. Spent the first half stoning in front of com, until i decided to go out in the late afternoon to get my x'mas gift. And since i'm already out, i decided to move my lazy legs to bbdc. It's really quite a long walk from the mrt station. Ok, now it's easier since the rest of the booking can be made online. Now to double check whether i'm free on the days where there are still slots since it's all weekdays. hopefully there wont be any sweeps/standby during the weeks. Well, at least it's a leave worth it.

Sians.. need to book in later le. IPPT's tomorrow and god knows if i can still maintain my silver or even pass. I feel so weak after so long of slacking and eating and sleeping. Bleh, wish me luck. My nights out at stake. So i'll be back on thursday. Hopefully it'll be an early book out so that i can have some time to rest before going for the hcco christmas party. I'm really looking forward to it, and of course sheng outing (FINALLY!). And my long leave.. hopefully no call backs (seems unlikely though given the peak period holidays like new year countdowns but i shall continue to hope).

The week in camp
~*Saturday, December 19, 2009*~

Has been a rather great week. Other than the sun-burning parade rehearsals which make no sense at all since all we need is to sedia and senang-diri. And they have to rehease so many times morning and afternoon making us sweat and stink before the actual thing.

And the last batch of pioneers have all ORDed. It also means that it's time for us to move into our new home. Wow ORDing personnel really damn zai. Bunk's in a big mess with lots of dust and loot.

Wed's day's out followed by a welcoming party by our new OC. Thurs IPPT-turned-training cos it was raining heavily so couldn't have 2.4. Poor mel and kenneth who managed to get silver le for sbj but has to get their results voided. (un)Luckily i had orderly duty which exempted me from the ippt. But because of that i had to miss company cohesion (watch movie omg) and half day off and stay in camp on a romantic date with a cds whom i didn't know before. Thankfully the cds damn nice. Damn relaxed one, dunno why our sergeants always so till so stressed. haha. I also get to learn about the rationing POS how to out-ration etc. Given our own specs, they would be too humji to let us touch that thing.

Friday was block leave/off so i booked out immediately after handing over duty and had a good day slacking at home. Feels good to have a long weekend till monday during which i have wedding ceremony, condo's 10th anniversary, guanyue outing and meeting up zhiyang for his belated bday.

P.S. Please leave a tag ;)!

Standby 2
~*Sunday, December 13, 2009*~

It's another long week. But illness took over me for at least 2 days so i was practically in coma for 2 days. Just eat, sleep, spam water, sleep and the cycle goes... It's rather amazing i could actually sleep so much (almost 20 hours) in a day. Thanks a lot for my teammates who have to work with 1 less people in team for the daily routine check. Luckily no sounding of horns or else it's gonna big a big trouble for everyone.

Ippt's coming up on thursday and it's getting me real worried. Recent spammage of food and lack of proper trainups has reduced me to a blob of fats. And the recent illness probably weakened me some more. How to jump 225 again? How to pull myself up 8 times? How to run 11 mins? It's a make or break thing. Will i have 0, 1 or 2 nights out? Worse of all, will i have to return every saturday for ufp depends on this... Wish me luck as i really need them loads.

Having a duty smack right in the middle of your weekend really sucks. And i mean saturday duties. You book out on friday evening hardly have time to catch up with the world out there again and you are stuck between sleeping or continuing. You wake up early on saturday morning with lack of sleep and you are to head back to camp. The feeling just sucks. You spend the day nuahing around in a secluded part of singapore where everyone else are having fun in the world out there. You only get to book out on sunday morning and the thought of having to book in within 12 hours just sapped all the joy out of you..

On another note, the standby duty yesterday didn't felt that long. It was really like a mini chalet at a secluded part of singapore where you don't have anything other than a tv, dvd player and ps2. Basically we just spammed dvds. Watched around 5 movies, played a bit of random ps2 games, nuah around, take a little nap etc. After staff parade, everyone was partying / feasting on kfc while i hide one corner with just mash potatoes thanks to my sore throat which i dont want to aggravate any further.. And i would say the kfc delivery service really sucks. Made 2 orders within a week. The first one came with 1 less chicken, the other came after 3 hours after the order.. NICE ONE PAL..

Well, at least i'm done with most of the things for this month. So let's look forward to a 4DWW, long weekend, another short week, then a long break till the new year (hopefully no callbacks)!

Oh ya, the new specs have arrived. I still think it's awkward to call people the same age as you sergeants. Now i know how the poly people in the platoon felt. It's worse if you know them before them. Totally awkward.. And very soon, we have to start saluting and calling them sirs. And my platoon has 2 new specs (dunno what for since all 6 team comm positions are filled. Maybe as backups and more peopls to tah cds duties.) 1 from hci another for mj. The MJ guy looks friendly so far, while zhiyi (from hci) looks serious. Well.. time will tell.

Meanwhile, i shall try to enjoy my last 2 hours before book in to the fullest.

P.S. Please leave a tag ;)!
