My Past

Song for the soul

Would you buy $50 for $10?
~*Saturday, November 07, 2009*~

Once upon a time, there was a group of friends. They were very poor and had to sweep areas for money. One day, when they were helping to sweep a place as usual. But the owner saw a well preserved 10-dollar old note in each of their wallets. Apparently these notes were given to them as part of their earnings from their previous customers. Being a old-notes collector, the owner decided to make a deal by buying each of the 10-dollar note for 50 dollars. To the group of friends who knows nothing about appreciation of notes and has no money left, it's just a 10-dollar note, to be spent for the next cup of kopi. However, the leader immediately rejected the offer and left, leaving the rest of the people sulking in disappointment..

I just realised it's a bad analogy. NEXT!

Once upon a time there was a group of 4 friends. Three of them were very poor and had to sweep different places for a living. The leader, even though rich, felt a sense of responsibility and decided to join them in the sweeps. One day while sweeping, they found 4 50-dollar notes on the floor torn into pieces. Assuming that none of the pieces were missing, 3 of the friends wanted to scoop up and pay 40 dollars to get the notes fully patched into 4 50-dollar notes. After which, they are able to keep 50 dollars each for themselves. Sounds like a great deal? Afterall, each of them still earn 40 dollars from the deal. Apparently the leader of the group doesn't think so. Afterall, what's the use of earning 40 bucks when he can't get to spend it? He shook his head, and during which, a gust of wind blew and sent the pieces of torn notes flying everywhere. Lost forever...

On a happier note. Today is 7/11 day! During this day next week, i'll be a freeman!

Sweeping frenzy
~*Friday, November 06, 2009*~

This is supposedly a short week but somehow it just felt damn long. Probably cos we kept getting spammed with the sweep tasks for the weekend that it just felt so pessimistic. I mean, who would be happy to learn that you'll be burning 8 hours on sat and 3.5 hours on sunday (4 hr req. for a day off wtf)?

Monday was platoon cohesion. Quite shiok to enjoy half a day of magic off with lan spammage. Really played till quite giddy after that. And i officially got damn sian of battlefield 2..

Tuesday was sunny day. A whole day in the sun. Masked basketball was lame and funny. Followed by ORD parade rehearsal. God-damn-it it's so depressing having to participate in an ord parade when you're not ord-ing. The only good news was the handing over of control of 2 platoons to alpha company due to the new hybrid company system. It really seemed like good news to us, given the 6am wake up time, firmly telling us that we should book out before 6pm for nights out (as opposed to the 6pm and still dragging RO nights out), 2230 book in time, annex room etc.

And of course the endless sweeps we have this week that makes it so sian. Why are the 3Ms so active this week? Just because of 3 persons many people have to burn hours of their weekends.. And of course, who can be more unlucky to kena 1 on thursday (plt off) from 11am to 7pm, sat 3pm to 11pm, and sunday 3pm to 7pm. Totally equivalant to no weekend.

And next week's onion ring week so no offs and more weekend burnt. how how how? this is so sian and depressing..

Musical Tapestry
~*Sunday, November 01, 2009*~

While many were out dunno where boozing around or highing around at halloween parties that are really hard to find in singapore cos there's just not the culture and tradition, i spent my day "alone" with music. I don't know why but that place still seemed like heaven everytime i go. I was able to observe from a corner, engross mysself in good music and just relax. And it doesn't matter when everyone look as you as though you are an alien, with all kinds of funny/cute expressions. In fact, some even made me chuckle to myself like a mad scientist.

Anyhow it was a job well done. With the little practice, it went great without major flops. No doubt there were some minor mistakes here and there (like any live performance), but it's all these that makes it different from listening to professional recordings. And i also got a rare chance to watch the recordings of the closing ceremony at esplanade. Totally sweet and touching though a pms bout kinda lowered the temperature by 10 deg. lol.

And to justin, whose blog i've just read. I'm not sure if you were referring to me but i can't possibly let you involved in this. Your exams are more important at this stage and i can't let get distracted more than you already are. There'll be more chances in the future after As.

Well, i have to book in again. Thanks everyone for the pleasant day you've given me yesterday. I've enjoyed myself. And it's nice to meet you again.

Training week?

There's one thing i hate about having weekly updates. 1. There are a whole spectrum of emotions you feel throughout the whole week and it's impossible to express it together in one post. I'm not one with mood swings. 2. The feelings will be gone after a while so it wont be very accurately captured.

Had sweep at mediacorp on monday. It's cool that we got to go places you usually wont be able to go. However, we didn't get to see any actresses that everyone had been dreaming for. lol. It also sucks that you are at the lowest end of the food chain even outside. *woof*

Lots of PT for the rest of the week. IPPT Circuit training resumed which made us all nuah. We were also thrown with extra sweep duties cos "they have apec recce". Though i dont see how cos when they are slacking in bunk when we went for sweep. They got to book out with the main body while the sweep team were still doing their sweep.

And the peptalk by PC was soothing. For many weeks, there have been bottled emotions by everyone. There's so much frustration and nowhere to release. He provided a channel for us to pour our dissatisfaction into, providing some form of salvation. Although we still dunno how much things will/can change, at least it eased the tension that was building up (and nearly out of control).

And of course the friday book out was really absurd and destroyed everything. With a science lecture that dragged till 5+, it already made many restless. Then with the standby area at 615, way past our normal book out time. And he still buah long long, self-proclaimed king with 5 ics parading behind him while he sashay and inspect the areas. Then he released his lion roar in which sends himself back to his palace 45 light minutes away. And the whole cycle repeated itself before the hell gate opened at 745 and we, the hungry ghosts, scrambled out to roam the world.

So.. bye bravo! You've proved yourself to be a place not suitable for living. I'm so glad i'm outta here. I shall TRY to preserve the good image portrayed during the pioneer course days. And hello alpha, i'm pleased to join you. Let's see what you have to offer. And i hope i won't be disappointed.

Promotion or Demotion?
~*Saturday, October 24, 2009*~

Lol i actually opened this page for 3 times over the span of 2 days before deciding to start typing something.

Life hasn't really been good. Turn ops have been overrated. Disappointments after disappointments. Shortly after promotion to LCP i feel as though i'm being demoted instead to rec.

They are taking back the things one by one. No psp when he specifically promised after turn ops. No more mp3/mp4s. Shortening of nights out timing with the indentment of dinner. Makes it more unfair to those who live far away from camp. There's nowhere else worth going or worth doing.

Seriously, i won't be surprised (but i'll be damn pissed) if they ask us to book in and book out in smart 4 and march from camp gate to coy line again..

At least we've found a new hobby to vent our frustration on: shuttlecocks. Have been spamming badmintons almost every night. Who cares if i've just showered 3 minutes ago. Who cares if my forearm and shoulders are screaming in pain. Nothing beats whacking on the ball of feathers.

I don't know if i'm falling into a bigger trap. But i have no other option but to cling on to the hope of life will be better after changing coy. I have had enough of upthere's who don't keep to promises, who cheat their way through our offs, who undercompensate our weekends..

2 more weeks... 2 more weeks to leave this company. 2 more weeks to exactly 1 year away from ORD. I shall ren3!

P.S. Please leave a tag ;)!
